La Liga y La Roja
The Sugar Club, Friday 10th February 2017
Join us at The Sugar Club for an evening of all things La Liga & La Roja with two of the leading commentator's on Spanish football: Sid Lowe & Graham Hunter and your host for the night, Ken Early.
Dr Lowe has been covering Spanish football from Madrid for the Guardian and others since 2001. He's written a number of books, including Fear and Loathing in La Liga: Barcelona, Real Madrid ; been a translator for galaticos like David Beckham, Michael Owen and, er, Thomas Graveson; and in 2015 was a finalist with Sheffield University on University Challenge. He has a dog called Estrella who looks like Chuck Blazer.
Graham is the author of Barca – The Making of the Greatest Team in the World and Spain: The Inside Story of La Roja's Historic Treble. He is also the man behind the most excellent The Big Interview Podcast. He has written, and reported for amongst many others: Sky Sports Spanish Football, the Scottish Mail on Sunday, ESPN, BBC Radio, Talksport, Newstalk, Sixty Minutes, Uefa.com, FIFA TV, the Evening Express, PlayUp.com, EightByEight (US), FourFourTwo Magazine and the PaddyPower website
He keeps my affiliation to Aberdeen FC (the Mighty Dandies) pretty low key, often not mentioning it for spells as long as 10 or 12 minute and has lived life to a soundtrack of the Clash, Paul Weller, Primal Scream, Dean Martin, the Stone Roses, the Beatles and the Stones.
Ken is an Irish journalist and broadcaster. He is currently a director of Second Captains and is a host of both Second Captains @ The Irish Times and the television show Second Captains Live on RTE 2. A regular columnist for the Irish Times, one of his earliest exposures to sport was as a member of the Templeogue Swimming Club.
