Ivan Oransky: Why science needs a watchdog

This event has ended

Trinity College Dublin, Wednesday 20th June

Join us to hear Ivan Oransky, award-winning medical journalist, talk about the misdemeanours in scientific publishing and the importance of reporting when papers have been retracted or corrected.

In an age of ‘publish or perish', where the pressure to rapidly publish academic research can foster a large volume of poor quality work or even unethical practices, Ivan co-founded Retraction Watch, a tracking service, as he believes “sunlight is the best disinfectant”.

This event is presented by Science Gallery Dublin and the Irish Science & Technology Journalists' Association in association with the Trinity Long Room Hub and Cúram, the SFI Centre for Research in Medical Devices, NUI-Galway.
