GRD's goal is to empower girls and women, including trans & non-binary folks, to explore their creative & artistic potential through music creation and performance.
Ever want to pick up sticks, grab a mic, power riff at full volume or get creative on keys? GRD have the space to set your music & your soul free. Helped by a growing community GRD run camps & events where you get to: learn an instrument | form a band | write a song | perform it live!
Founded in 2016, Girls Rock Dublin is a non-profit group and the 1st girls rock camp organisation in Ireland who run camps and events aimed at growing girls and women's self-esteem through music creation and performance. Part of a global movement of rock camps (Girls Rock Camp) united by the desire for gender equality in the music industry.
The 2018 camp will be a 5-day long event of music and creative exploration. Musical experience is not required. Campers get instrument coaching (vocals, guitar, bass, synth, drums) and collaborative workshops on relevant topics such as stage set-up; performance; positive self-image reinforcement; women in music history etc. Coaches and workshop facilitators are women active in the local independent music scene.
Who: 12-17 year olds who self-identify as female (trans and cis) or gender non-binary.
When: Tue 03 – Sat 07 July 2018, 9.30am – 4.30pm
Where: Sound Training College (Rory Gallagher Corner, 31 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2).
Band practice will be hosted just a few steps away at Temple Lane Studios (Curve St, Temple Bar, Dublin 2).
Full week fee: €280 – includes all tuition, workshops, lunch, instruments and rehearsal facilities. Installment options available. 2 scholarships will be granted to applicants with low income.
