Online, Thursday 2nd February

St Brigid is the patron saint of poets and scholars amongst many other things. On the first of February, the Embassy of Argentina in Dublin will celebrate another woman who, like St Brigid, inspired many people through her dedication to following her passion: Maria Elena Walsh. An Argentine poet, novelist, musician, playwright, writer, and composer, Walsh created a unique type of children's literature in Argentina, and was highly committed to human rights. She was the daughter of an Irish descent railway worker.

Through posts on social media, we invite children around the country to create their own unique illustrations inspired by Maria Elena Walsh's work. Between 01/02 and 04/02 the drawings will be posted on our social media and 06/02 winner will be announced.

The winning prize is a stationery kit and a book from Maria Elena Walsh to inspire people to, like Maria Elena Walsh and St Brigid, nourish their passion and change lives through their work.
