Canalaphonic

Various Locations, Friday 22nd September - Sunday 24th September 2017

Following on from a hugely successful festival in 2016 we are delighted to announce the return of CANALAPHONIC from the 22nd – 24th September.

Things will kick off gently on Friday 22nd with some Culture Night activities, followed by a full day of water activities on the canal alongside Urban Markets's Canal Bank Market Fair, we'll be putting a lot more effort into our kids zone in St. Mary's College and to that end we're delighted to have Recreate Ireland involved there along with loads more, we'll also have a small stage at Swan Leisure and some cool fun activities inside too, literary events in Rathmines Library, pop up music and spoken word performances in our usual coffee shops, our main Making Waves Stage will now be in Whelan's on both Saturday and Sunday, where we also have the front bar and upstairs venue for the weekend then we'll have a range of live entertainment in key live music venues on Saturday night including an Emerald Haze takeover of The Bowery focusing on other aspects of Ireland's alternative and heavy community and a vast array of other sounds in Copan, Blackbird, Mother Reilly's and Bernard Shaw and finally we'll wind down gently on Sunday back at Portobello Harbour.

The festival will provide an outlet for unsigned and independent musicians, artists and performers. Festival goers will have a staggering choice of gigs to attend on both evenings with genres such as rock, blues, indie, mod, roots, trad, swing, singer/songwriter, comedy and spoken word taking place in intimate venues, in addition to outdoor markets, art exhibitions and children’s entertainment.

Set against the backdrop of Portobello Harbour and the Grand Canal, and spreading throughout Rathmines and Portobello, this truly unique festival promises to be one of the coolest events in Dublin this year.
